In 2017, Prof. I. Liritzis started a collaboration with Dr. Cai Shuhui of the Institute of Geology & Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.

The result of this cooperative work was a co-authored paper intitled: Aurorae and Archaeomagnetism from the 1st Millennium B.C. China, Greece and Italy: a brief overview and assessment. Mediterranean Archaeology & Archaeometry . 2017, Vol. 17 Issue 3, p273-300. 28p. Find it here at: http://www.maajournal.com/Issues2017c.php

The success of this cooperation led to a further MOU between the University of the Aegean (School of Humanities; Dept of Mediterranean Studies, lab of Archaeometry, Lab of Environmental Archaeology) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, signed in Beijing the academic authorities of the CASIGG and the University of the Aegean’s leadership.
